Ansford and Castle Cary Parish Consultation part 2
Overview
Somerset Council is carrying out a Community Governance Review of the parish boundary between Ansford and Castle Cary. This is Part 2 of the consultation process and follows on from the earlier consultation, where residents and interested organisations were invited to share their views.
The review was originally started after the Council received valid petitions from local electors. During the first stage of consultation, a range of options were considered, including whether the two parishes should be merged or whether changes to governance arrangements were needed.
Having considered the feedback received during the initial consultation, Somerset Council has now developed a draft proposal for the next stage of the review.
Draft proposal
The Council is proposing that:
- There should be no change to the existing parishes, other than a small amendment to the parish boundary between Ansford and Castle Cary, as shown on the accompanying maps
- The revised parish boundaries should come into effect on 1 April 2027
No other changes to parish councils, governance arrangements, or parish identities are proposed as part of this draft recommendation.
Have your say
This second consultation gives local residents, parish councils, and other interested parties the opportunity to comment on the draft boundary changes before any final decision is made. All responses received will be considered by Somerset Council before recommendations are taken forward for formal approval.
