Somerset Council is inviting tenants and leaseholders to take part in a short survey to help shape the future of its housing management and repairs service. The survey takes just 5–10 minutes to complete and is open from 19 September to 31 October 2025.

What’s happening?

We are carrying out an independent review to determine the best way to deliver housing services across Somerset. This includes looking at how housing management and repairs are currently provided and exploring which delivery model will best meet the needs of tenants and leaseholders.

At present:

Around 6,000 homes are managed directly by Somerset Council’s in-house team and around 4,000 homes are managed by Homes in Somerset, an arms-length management organisation (ALMO) owned by the Council

The review, led by Savills, will compare these two models and recommend the most effective and resilient approach.

Regardless of the outcome, Somerset Council will continue to own all housing stock.

Why your views matter

This survey is your opportunity to share your experiences and preferences.

All responses will be treated confidentially and anonymously and will be considered by Savills as part of their review.

The feedback will help inform their recommendations to Somerset Council.

A final decision is expected in early 2026, once all stakeholder views – including yours – have been taken into account.
