Proposed Changes to Parish Councillor Numbers – Ashwick, Chapel Allerton, Martock and West Monkton

Overview

Somerset Council is carrying out a Community Governance Review to consider proposed changes to the number of parish councillors in  the following 4 parishes:

The Review is being undertaken following requests from the parish councils concerned, who have asked the Council to consider whether changes to councillor numbers would support effective local governance and representation. The Council has considered the requests and is supportive of the proposed changes. It is therefore seeking the views of electors from the four parishes and any other people who wish comment on whether the Council should make an Order to give effect to the proposals.

This is a targeted Review and is limited solely to the number of parish councillors in the parishes named above. It does not consider parish boundaries, mergers, or the creation or abolition of parishes.

Feedback received will help inform the Council’s decisions, which will be considered as part of the Community Governance Review process.
